Why did the TADs fracture or deformed during implantation?
Biokey has very strict quality control and examines 100% of each of TADs before leaving the factory and company.
Clinically, if the tip of the TAD is bent or even broken during the implantation, most of it’s because the implantation site is too intensive. When the rotational torque of the implantation is bigger than the torsion force of TAD, this situation will occur, stainless steel TAD with diameters of 2.0mm can avoid fracture problems.
In our experience, about 0.1% of patients have the problem of intensive bone quality. Therefore, it is recommended that orthodontists use pre-drilling after evaluation to avoid direct insert.
How to choose the material?
The strength of stainless steel is better than that of titanium, in most situations, Stainless steel’s penetration and strength are strong enough to self-drilling.
Titanium metal has good biocompatibility and is suitable for patients with poor bone quality or allergic to stainless steel.
Inflammation around TAD
Classic type has a smooth cervical surface design, to avoid food residue and reduce inflammatory reaction.
At the same time, instruct patients to clean the TAD daily with a small brush and cotton buds moistened with 0.1% chlorhexidine, which can minimize the chance of inflammation.
If the TAD is inserted over in the mucosa, even the head of the TAD can be away from the mucosa, it can easily irritate movable mucosa and cause Inflammation so we recommend placing TADs in non-movable attached gingiva whenever possible.

The patient’s bone will affect the stability after implantation, and an extension hook can be used to adjust the implantation position.
